"Für den ersten internationalen Release des Schweizer
Bitboutique Labels sorgen die drei südenglischen Produzenten Oli Beale,
Jon Shanks und Pete Bannister alias «Nimbus». Seit gerade mal eineinhalb
Jahren sitzen die drei Jungs zusammen im Studio und beweisen gleich mit ihrem ersten
gemeinsamen Release, dass sie sich mit ihren bis ins kleinste Detail
ausgearbeiteten Arrangements selbst vor den Big Names der Branche
nicht zu verstecken brauchen. Der deepe und flächenreiche Opener «Intron» lässt
sich, wie es der Name verrät, geradezu ideal als Intro-Track
einsetzen. Die Zürcher Cycle Repair verleihen «Intron» in ihrem
Remix ihre typisch minimale und funky Note. Mit variantenreichen Pads und knackiger
Bassline entpuppt sich das unglaublich groovende «Entron» als
das Highlight der Scheibe. Melancholisch und verträumt rundet «Vector» die
extrem saubere Produktion ab. Genau so klingt schöner Deep House."

"Now, who's been paying attention and remembers the piece I did
on Jon Shanks, one third of an outfit called Nimbus, a while back
for the THL site? Well, further from their recent outing on Iron Box's
Framed and Formed ep, the guys are soon to drop a killer four tracker
on stealthy Swiss imprint Bitboutique. It's hard to believe the trio have
only been producing for a mere 18 months, give or take, such is the
polish and accomplishment on display here. 'Entron' opens with glacial
string textures and a tight,
skipping rhythmic flow; the atmosphere continues to thicken appreciably
as sinister textures build and low sub bass sweeps usher in the
break...which ends with the introduction of a rude nightstalkin'
bassline - which expertly keeps this sublevel journey moving right
along. 'Vector' provides more enigmatic chimes and string washes
and an urgent, insistent bassline hassling on the edges of the
arrangement. Pinpoint precision is evident in the choice of subtle melodic
and percussive flourishes - something a of a trademark with these
boys. 'Intron' opens the flipside with a futuristic synth array
soon joined by rock solid kicks; the track is suffused with a graceful
unhurried air as the warm sounds surface slowly, creating an inviting,
cohesive vibe which sits very comfortably alongside the likes of Aril Brikha
or Funk D'Void. Cycle Repair close up with a more uptempo, insistent
take, bringing the bassline up louder and longer in the mix and
twisting out the synth motifs. Those with futurist tendencies and an ear
for detail would do well to catch up with this one.
